Alright, being the procrastinator I am, this is a bit late, but at least I have something... :P

...Another new world of endless possibilities, new beginnings, and so on, and so forth. It's now been more than a year since I graduated college, and about 6 months since I started spending 40 hours a working a mundane graphic design job. All the while, I've been trying to muster up the motivation to finally start drawing/painting stuff to submit regularly, both here and on places like Tumblr, Instagram, Artstation, etc., in hopes of getting enough exposure to land some freelance gigs and eventually get to quit said design job.

I've also set myself some goals for the coming year, such as completing at least one series on NeonMob, completing that Schoolism course that I subscribed to last year (shoutout to imaginism) , and maybe, just maybe, getting a Patreon up and running. Alas, I don't like to talk much about future plans, because I've usually lacked the motivation to actually follow through, the Arancia Log thing that I committed myself to almost two years ago (my sincerest apologies to Nerubuu on that) being a textbook example of this. But, enough about dwelling on the past, it's time for us to start looking forward to what 2016 has in store.

Arancia Log Cover Doodle by onjikun
(slightly tweaked copy/paste job from Tumblr)

Well, folks, here is the plan for my big (non-college-related) drawing endeavor of 2014: a collection of drawings for Nerubuu 's ARANCIA-Project . Of course, most people have contributed only one such drawing, and initially that was my intention as well. However, I had come up with so many ideas, and had such a hard time deciding which one one of those ideas to actually make into a finished illustration, so I decided to just make a series of drawings instead.

My plan is to make at least one or two drawings (a bit more refined than what you see above) every month this year, each one based on a different idea, and submit them to my Tumblr blog. At the same time, I’m also (slowly) working on a big, detailed Illustrator drawing, of which I’ll occasionally post work-in-progress shots exclusive to said Tumblr blog. This illustration may also be accompanied by two other special illustrations, one of which would commemorate the Arancia Project’s 5th anniversary. Finally, once I’m done with all my Arancia drawings over on Tumblr, I’ll compile them all (or at least the more popular ones) into one big submission both here and on pixiv.

Well, I think I’ve done enough talking about this for now, so on to my first proper Arancia doodle…

New Year's '14

2 min read
So, another year ahead of us, and another year behind us, and almost a year since I wrote something here. Looking back, I can see that I've contributed a whopping 19 new deviations in 2013, compared to 9 in 2012. But still, I feel like I could be a lot more productive than I've been, and in 2014 I resolve to spend less time browsing this site and more time actually working on stuff to submit to it. I may as well also resolve to dust off my old Wacom tablet and submit some actual drawn stuff instead of making everything in Illustrator. The ArtistWorkout group, which I've joined but have yet to contribute to, may be a big help in getting to keep that resolution.

At the same time, I keep reminding myself that I still owe Nerubuu a contribution to his ARANCIA-Project which I've promised since I did this for his birthday last year:

Speaking of which, I have so many different ideas for Arancia that I've decided to do a bunch of doodles on Tumblr, in addition to a big, detailed Illustrator drawing. Once I'm finished with all that, I'll post said Illustrator drawing with a single-deviation compilation of the best and/or most popular doodles from my Tumblr blog. I'll put some more details on this rather large undertaking, on both sites, in the coming days.

Well, that's it for now; I wish everyone a Happy 2014! :D

X and Y

So, the newest generation of Pokémon was officially announced this past Tuesday, for a worldwide release in October. Last night I posted a rather lengthy writeup on my thoughts on it over on Tumblr, along with my rough mockup on what the international logos for the games would look like if The Pokémon Company International actually put some effort into resembling the Japanese ones.

Anyway, I feel like I should throw up a doodle of the starters, to contribute to the extraordinary amount of fanart that these games have already gotten. Then, once the next batch of Gen VI monsters is revealed, I might might actually submit art of them in a somewhat timely manner.

Kinda bummed out that I never made anything festive to submit today, so I figured I'd at least post this to make up for it and to give hints of what I'll be working on in 2013.

First off, my current avatar is (or at least is supposed to be) a dragon, since this past year has been the Year of the Dragon. Next year, 2013, is the Year of the Snake, so of course there's no point in being a dragon anymore.

Secondly, I'm going to try to make some original stuff outside of my Munchabelly characters. Maybe I'll take a shot at surrealism or something.

Finally, I'll show you this. It's related to something I have planned to submit sometime next year, but for now I'll leave it at that. :B

Well, that's it for today. Enjoy the rest of your holiday, everyone!
